The 1st training on Risk-Benefit Assessment (RBA) on Foods was held from 22st to 25th may, 2018

The 1st training on Risk-Benefit Assessment (RBA) on Foods was held from 22st to 25th may, 2018, at the National Institute of Health Doutor Ricardo Jorge, in Lisboa, Portugal. It took place within the RiskBenefit4EU project, funded by EFSA. The training was organised within the Task 2 of this project related to “Capacity building and framework development” and was organised by INRA (France) and DTU (Denmark), two institutions of recognized expertise on the area of RBA and project members. The participants were recipient members of the project from Portugal including INSA (project coordinator), ASAE and UPorto. Briefly, the training included an introductory session related to the significance of risk and benefit assessment in different areas such as toxicology, nutrition and microbiology. Then, a risk-benefit stepwise approach was presented and exercises were performed for a better comprehension of the methodology proposed. A project case study was also started to be discussed by project members. At the end, a celebration was performed in a nice dinner and agreeable atmosphere.
