SECALIM at IAFP2024

SECALIM at IAFP2024

As it does every year, SECALIM was present at the IAFP international food safety conference held in Geneva from 30 to 21 May.

For the 2024 edition, our ph.D students were able to present their work in three oral presentations and one poster:

Chrysanthi Champidou, ph.D  student supervised by Jeanne-Marie Membré and Nabila Haddad from Secalim and Mariem ELLOUZE from Nestlé presented her thesis work on the prediction of spore inactivation by UHT treatment of Geobacillus stearothermophilus in pea-based milk alternatives.

Sophie Hautefeuille, ph.D student at Secalim on the ANR ESCAPE project, led by Nabila Haddad and supervised by herself, Sandrine Guillou and Raouf Tareb, presented her initial results on the co-occurrence of certain bacterial communities and Campylobacter on broiler carcasses.

Pauline Mombert, ph.D student at AgroParisTech, supervised by François Mariotti and Jeanne-Marie Membré, presented her model for assessing the microbiological risks associated with Bacillus cereus in hot dishes eaten by vegetarian consumers in France.

Francis Lauriau, supervised by Sandrine Guillou, Nabila Haddad and Jean-Michel Cappelier, presented his thesis work, carried out in collaboration with DTU in Denmark, on a microbiological risk assessment model for Campylobacter based on broiler surveillance data, which would make it possible to obtain a harmonized risk assessment at European level.

Jeanne-Marie Membré, scientist at Secalim, as part of a symposium on predicting microbiological risks in new plant-based products, presented the effect of climate change on the microbiological stability of plant-based milk alternatives.

The conference is also an opportunity to reunite with our former doctoral students, whose careers are our pride and joy:
