The unit

SECALIM (Food Safety and Microbiology) is a joint research unit (UMR1014) of INRAE/Oniris that works in the field of microbiological food safety. SECALIM's mission is to produce and disseminate scientific knowledge and methods in the field of microbiological food safety in order to meet societal demands for public health and food loss control. Its research activities aim to characterize and control microbial risk (safety and spoilage) in food. The unit's expertise combines classical and molecular microbiology, predictive microbiology, and quantitative risk assessment. One of the aims of this work is to contribute to the development of innovative control methods for professionals and regulatory authorities to ensure the microbiological safety of food.
